Listen up. Your Instagram profile and bio can make you money if it’s done well. It's where people go on Instagram to know what you're all about. While you're grinding away in your restaurant, your Instagram can be directing traffic to your front door or online order page
Here’s a few tips to tighten up your IG profile and bio to drive sales-
Your Handle (@Username) & Business Name: Make this your restaurant’s name. Simple. Easy to find. It needs to be consistent with the other handles on your other social platforms. Your displayed business name needs to be your actual restaurant name – no confusion
The "About" (Your Actual Bio Text): You’ve got 150 characters. Make every single one count. This is your One-Liner, the soul of your restaurant, just like on your website. Be direct. If you use a hashtag or tag someone, make damn sure it’s essential. Keep it simple, clear, and tell them what you're about.
Location, Location, Location: People need to know if they can actually get to you. Don’t just drop a complicated address. Think neighborhood or city – like "West Midtown Atlanta" or "Downtown Chattanooga". Make it easy for them to know if you're nearby. One mistake a lot of restaurants make is that they don't include a location at all and miss out on potential customers that don't know they are there.
One Critical Link: Instagram gives you the option of up to five links on your bio, but you are better off with only using one link. ONE. This link is your direct line to getting customers to act- Send them to your website for online ordering or your reservation page. For most independent spots, a straightforward link to where they can make a reservation or order online is all that you need – forget those pages with a a bunch of different options unless there’s a hardcore strategic reason. You need your CTA to be one click to get what your customers are looking for and avoid confusion.
This is about building a digital front door that actually brings people in. Get these fundamentals right and your Instagram will start working for you, not against you. Stop with the BS that doesn't convert. Focus on what gets customers through the door. Now go fix it.
